Riverside County, California 

Riverside County is just east of Los Angeles and is famous for being home of the Joshua Tree National Park. It is also the home for the cities of Riverside, Temecula, Palm Springs, and Indio. The county was found by various native tribes but was colonized in 1774 by a Spanish explorer named Juan Bautista de Anza. Many Spanish explorers used the land to raise cattle. In 1850, the U.S took control of the area and established the state of California. Forty-three years later, in 1893, Riverside County was officially incorporated.
